Manatees on the St. John's River

Jan. 28 2019 - Blue Spring State Park, Orange City Florida
We spent the afternoon and then the next morning watching these manatees. We had a great camp spot just a couple of minutes from the river. It was a cold couple of days with the temperatures getting to the high 50's during the day. The park reported that there were almost 450 manatees in the river that day. The cold weather drove many of them in from the ocean.
There is a walkway that goes along the river where you can watch from a distance. Check out Save The Manatees. They have and live video cam above water and one below water and they give you a rough count of the number of manatees in the river.
